The History Of The Botleigh Grange Hotel

The Botleigh Grange Hotel was built as a Country House during the 17th Century. It is said that around this period Oliver Cromwell came to stay. The Estate at this time consisted of over 100 acres, which contained a large freshwater lake, with a small but beautiful weir, where it overflowed as a cascade, into a small lake on it's way to the sea.
Thomas Hellyer Foord, purchased the estate in 1868. He was responsible for the addition of a tower over the porch, which housed a clock with Westminster Chimes, by Buggins of Clerkenwell. The internal decorations were carried out by one of the Family's own decorators, the principle additions being the oak panelled walls and a unique ornamental ceiling.

Thomas Hellyer Foord died in 1917 and The Grange was sold in lots in 1923, leaving the Mansion with only 25 acres of gardens and lakes. It was converted into a private Hotel in 1932 and continued as such until the Plumpton Family purchased it in 1949 and acquired a full licence to run 'The Botleigh Grange Hotel" as a Licensed Country House Hotel, which of course it still remains today.
The Hotel restaurant is situated in a magnificent glass domed dining room, with views overlooking the tranquil gardens. Well known for a delicious menu the restaurant has received an AA Rosette accolade. The Executive Chef at the Botleigh Grange Hotel, is continuing to transform the very best of fresh local produce into dishes of excellence.
A perfect venue for both Civil Marriages and Wedding receptions, the Botleigh Grange Hotel provides a romantic setting with beautiful gardens, the ideal backdrop for wedding photographs.

The recently refurbished bedrooms are exquisitely plush and luxurious. Each room has been decorated individually with personal care and attention to detail. The Botleigh Grange Hotel offers a choice of Superior Doubles, Executive Suites and traditional 4 poster bedrooms.
Considered one of the leading hotels in the Hampshire area, the success of the Botleigh Grange Hotel is simply down to the relaxed sophistication and unobtrusive service.
"Staff and management together, totally committed to the customer"
